Catharine Bramkamp:

How to Break through Writer's Block for Consultants—
Getting Past the Blank Page (or Screen)

Friday, June 25th, 2010
7:30 – 10:00 AM

One reason we all know about top consultants like Alan Weiss and David Meister is because of their books. And then there’s Robert Middleton, whose weekly e-zine helped establish him as a marketing guru. Chris Brogan’s blog makes him a sought-after speaker and consultant.

Now, in the social media era, it’s more important than ever to be able to write, whether it’s a book, a blog post, or even a 140-character status update.

But what if you freeze up at the keyboard? How do you get past the empty screen? What do you do when faced with a blank page?

Learn how you can dedicate just 10 minutes a day to create the content you need to advance your business. Author and writing coach Catharine Brampkamp will demonstrate a series of exercises that you can use to get past writer’s block.

Join us at the June BACN meeting to learn:

  1. Why consultants need to write
  2. How to express your own voice
  3. How to conquer writer’s block

This method was first developed in the mid-19th century and has been refined over the years. Natalie Goldberg calls it the ten-minute write; Julia Cameron calls it morning pages; Jack Kerouac called it unconscious writing; and many writers reference the Zen theory of beginner’s mind. All of this can be understood and practiced by new and experienced writers. Whether you’re a lifelong writer or new to the field, you can reconnect with your work and your path as an author.
